For nearly 30 years, Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association (IMAA) has created stability, supported success and built community for refugees and immigrants resettling in southeast Minnesota.  As a result, thousands of individuals and families have overcome barriers to achieve self-sufficiency and independence in their new home.

Refugees from countries around the world—Bhutan, Bosnia, Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Somalia, Sudan and Vietnam, to name a few—now call Rochester home. They have demonstrated strength, perseverance and courage in the face of remarkable hardship.


With the help of the committed IMAA staff and board of directors that reflects the demographic of arriving refugees and immigrants, IMAA builds a bridge to a better life.
